National Seminar on
"RESURRECTION OF INDIAN RAILWAYS - AN INTROSPECTION"

Dear Patron,

It is a matter of great pleasure and pride to inform you that 'Railway Samachar' is now in the 15th year of its publication after earning huge appreciation from ever expanding readership for its accurate and unsparing coverage of contemporary issues and concerns pertaining to stake holders of Indian Railways. Valuable comments from readers and other official quarters indicated creation of awareness and interest, that often resulted in fruitful investigation as well as redressal of problems and grievances.

Each issue of 'Railway Samachar' helped in highlighting the shortcomings inherent in the system. 'Railway Samachar' has in fact, become synonymous with Railway ethos and culture. Encouraged by the enthusiasm shown by Railway personnel and general public in patronizing 'Railway Samachar', steps have been taken to turn 'Railway Samachar' into a National Railway fortnightly newspaper, so that the issues, topics and subjects which merit attention or redressal get taken up from all quarters and are not confined or limited to a privileged few.

'Railway Samachar' had organized seminars on various topics of prime importance. These seminars were attended by top brass of Railway Administration and were astounding success in terms of contents, messages, information and by the generous attendance of stakeholders at large.

'Railway Samachar' has now planned to organize another event to highlight the need for imbuing new life into this bulwark of India's future and economic growth so that Indian Railways may scale new heights like the bird of Phoenix.

As you may be aware, 'Railway Samachar' had organized many seminars on the topics of "Public Seminar on Railway Safety", "Role of Vigilance Organisation in Railway System", "Predicament of Suburban Rail Users in Mumbai", "Safety of Rail Users and Disaster Management", "Economic Viability through Development of Non-Conventional Revenue Resources of Indian Railways" at locations like Mumbai, Patna etc. These seminars focus on vital areas like Safety, Security, Engineering, Transportation, Vigilance, Economic viability and so on...

The seminars were well attended by the top brass of Railway Administration and were amazing success in terms of content, messages, information and by the generous attendance of public/employees at large. Subsequent feedbacks have proved the utility and positive contribution of these seminars in Railway Transport culture and working. Demands are now being made to take up some other vital topics by way of such seminars, particularly with regard to imbuing new life and vitality into Indian Railways so as to resurrect and revive it.

The focus of this National Seminar is on the "RESURRECTION OF INDIAN RAILWAYS - AN INTROSPECTION". The topic assumes significance in the present economic scenario in India and also brings relevance in the changing economic scenario across the globe. The Seminar will be held at 16.00 to 20.00 hrs on  Thursday, 26th April 2012  at Yashwantrao Chavan Pratisthan, Gen. J. N. Bhosale Marg, Near Mantralaya, Mumbai-400021.

On this occasion a special issue of 'Railway Samachar' shall be brought out. Your views, thoughts, experiences and knowledge about Resurrecting this sleeping beauty, the Indian Railways and its relevance in making India a power to reckon with are earnestly solicited in the form of an ARTICLE/MESSAGE, along with your passport size photograph latest by 10th April 2012 for publishing in this issue, so that the same can be shared and appreciated by the valuable readers of 'Railway Samachar'
